Cooking In the French Country

Screen Shot 2016-11-19 at 9.08.52 PMPart cookbook, part coffee-table book highlighting how glorious it would be to live in French wine country, French Country Cooking: Meals and Moments from a Village in the Vineyards by Mimi Thorisson is as much a joy to read as it is to cook from. This would be an excellent gift book or to read while enjoying a glass of bordeaux. The anecdotes and photos – and French language utilized throughout – will transport you to the French countryside, albeit briefly.

The recipes may not be the best for novice cooks, but most are accessible. Some of the ingredients can be challenging to find but we enjoyed the eggs piperade, a Basque-style ratatouille, in particular.
