Maximalism: in for 2017?

maximalismMinimalism in pretty much all things has been de rigeur for so long now, we forget what it was like to do more with more, not less. But perhaps, now, layers upon layers of things are in, again.

WSJ ran a piece today entitled The Lush New Décor Look That’s Vanquishing Minimalism, and the looks they presented are rich with colors and patterns. Don’t worry, you can still keep your Hale Navy walls, probably. You’ll just need to add a heavy dose of art, mirrors, gilt (weren’t there some people saying a Trump election would make gilt a thing again?) and some bright rugs, curtains and upholstered furniture.

The look won’t be for everyone, but it’s certainly more fun than starkness.
